GET TO KNOW ME
Meet your Clinical Psychologist

Welcome! I'm Christina Pereira, a Clinical Psychologist driven by a passion for helping people transform their lives. My journey in psychology began with a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, followed by immersive experiences in diverse healthcare settings.

With a foundation rooted in extensive training at a psychiatric hospital and community service at a large regional hospital, I've honed my skills and developed an integrative approach to therapy. My practice merges insights from systemic, psychodynamic, and person-centered theories. For me, therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all solution; it's a tailored process crafted to fit the unique needs of each individual.
My experience spans a broad spectrum, working with diverse individuals and communities facing an array of challenges—from depression, anxiety, trauma, and neurodevelopmental conditions like ADHD and autism spectrum disorder to complex disorders such as schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder.
I staunchly advocate for accessible healthcare, especially in the realm of mental well-being. I believe everyone deserves a sanctuary where they can genuinely feel secure.
I'm excited about the opportunity to work with you and support you in your quest for positive change. Get in touch, and let's embark on this transformative journey together, or click here to read more about me.

Individual Therapy
When life feels overwhelming or you're struggling to cope, individual therapy offers a supportive, confidential space. Together, we navigate challenges and work towards your goals.

Play Therapy
For children, play is a vital mode of expression. Using toys and play, I assist children in exploring and understanding their emotions and thoughts, supporting their emotional growth.

Couples Therapy
This therapy focuses on enhancing communication and addressing behavioural patterns within your relationship. As a neutral facilitator, I aim to foster understanding and promote healthier dynamics between partners.

Parental Guidance
Addressing challenges in children's behaviour involves collaborative work with parents to navigate and foster healthier interactions within the family unit.

Family Therapy
Resolving communication breakdowns, addressing problematic dynamics, and clarifying family roles are the central goals of family therapy.

Assessments
These evaluations encompass various types, including medico-legal, neuropsychological, or child assessments, as requested by third parties.

FAQ
1 / What can I expect from the first session?
In our initial session, the focus is on understanding your background and needs. It's an opportunity for us to explore your goals and set a direction for our sessions together. Therapy involves collaboration towards your personal growth, rather than providing advice or being a social space.
2 / How long is a session?
Sessions typically run between 50 to 55 minutes. However, I'm flexible and open to adjusting the duration based on your specific requirements.

3 / Is therapy confidential?
Absolutely. Your privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance in therapy. Your sessions are a safe and confidential space where you can freely express yourself. It's essential to note that there are legal and ethical boundaries to confidentiality, primarily when there's a risk of harm to yourself or others. During our initial session, we'll discuss these boundaries and ensure you feel comfortable and informed about confidentiality within the therapeutic process.
4 / How long will therapy take?
The length of therapy varies for each individual and depends on your specific goals and needs. Some people benefit from short-term therapy focused on a particular issue, which might take a few weeks or months. Others may choose to engage in longer-term therapy for deeper exploration and lasting change, which can span a year or more. We will regularly review your progress to ensure therapy continues to meet your needs.
